Oldham County suffered two disasters during a 6 month period in
2008 and 2009. The wind storm in September knocked power out for many families
for up to 10 days and closed the schools for a week. In January of 2009 an
ice storm knocked power out for almost all of Oldham County. During this
disaster the Red Cross opened up shelters to house those without power, heat
and water. |

The Oldham County Red Cross has two disaster trailers to help them
during a disaster. One of these trailers was stock by a grant given to the
Red Cross from UPS in 2007. You can help us fill the other trailer. During the two disasters
we experienced in September 2008 and January 2009 we used many items from the
trailers. Call the Red Cross to see what you or your group can donate so we
are ready for the nest disaster. |
